A dry-mesic, mixed oak stand on a convex middle slope above Comers Creek. This vegetation type is widespread at middle elevations of the Iron Mountains. Quercus montana and Q. rubra more or less share overstory dominance, with Acer rubrum and Magnolia acuminata as frequent associates. Acer rubrum, Magnolia fraseri (outside of plot), Oxydendron arboreum, Acer pensylvanicum, Amelanchier arboreum, and Hamamelis virginiana are common in the understory.
